Black bathroom fittings have become the default in a lot of new bathrooms, and the usual problem with them is inconsistency. A black handset arrives attached to a bright chrome T-valve, and because the valve sits at the cistern where everyone can see it, the mismatch is the first thing you notice. On a hand held bidet, the T-valve sits at the cistern in plain view. It is not tucked away.

Plenty of black kits finish the handset and leave the valve bright, because the valve is the part the buyer is not looking at in the product photo. On this one the valve is black stainless too.

This is the part worth knowing before you buy, and it runs opposite to what people expect.

Black is good at hiding fingerprints. It is bad at hiding limescale. Dried mineral deposit is pale, and pale marks on a dark surface stand out in a way they never do on chrome.

So in a hard water area you will see deposit on this sooner than on the stainless version. It is cosmetic and it wipes off, but it needs the habit: dry it after use, and use a descaler on a cloth when deposit builds.

Never an abrasive cream, never a scouring pad. Water marks come off. A dulled finish does not.
