Everything else on this store runs on cold water, because the cold feed filling your cistern is the only water at a toilet. This one has a heating element and a plug. That is the entire reason to buy it, and the entire reason it costs what it does.
Check this before you order
Is there a mains socket within reach of your toilet?
A great many Irish bathrooms have nothing but a shaver point, which is not suitable for an appliance like this. Socket outlets in bathrooms are restricted by the wiring rules, and adding one is work for a registered electrical contractor.
If the answer is no, that is not a problem. It is a different product. Our non electric bidet seat replaces the seat in exactly the same way and washes with cold water, needing no plug, for well under a third of the price.
The plug, specifically
BS 1363, 230 V, 50 Hz. The standard three pin plug in Ireland. There is no adapter in the box and none is needed, because the warehouse holds this product in the three pin unit rather than a continental one supplied with something trailing out of the back of it. The cord is 51 inches, a little over a metre and a quarter, and it does not stretch, so measure from the socket to the side of the toilet before you order.
What the heating actually does
The heating is tankless. A tank model warms a small reservoir and then runs cool once you have used it. This heats the water as it passes, so the temperature holds for as long as you want it, at any of four settings.
The seat is heated separately, also at four settings, and there is a warm air dryer with three. The nozzle cleans itself, does a rear wash and a front wash, and can oscillate instead of sitting in one spot.
The rest of it
An automatic deodoriser with an activated charcoal filter. A blue LED night light, which sounds like a gimmick until the first time you use the bathroom at three in the morning without putting the main light on. A soft closing seat and lid.
Installation
The seat replaces your existing toilet seat, takes its water from the cistern supply through a T-adapter, and plugs into a suitable socket near the toilet. Installation and backflow requirements vary by property. Follow the product instructions and your local water rules, and ask a qualified plumber if you are not sure your supply is suitable.
Looking after it
Switch it off at the socket first. Wipe the seat and lid with a damp cloth. Keep bleach and thick cleaners off the plastic, and never spray cleaner directly at the control panel or the mains inlet.
